25 Awesome Quotes- The language of letting go
78Having firsthand experience qualifies you to elaborate on a subject more accurately. Why? Because you have suffered the pain and the ecstasy, you have ached, cried, laughed and enjoyed in your own skin. I decided to write this unusual hub (Unusual for me since it isn´t my typical style), because I am undergoing a very painful experience at the moment (My Granny suffered a stroke yesterday and she cannot speak, cannot swallow or chew)
Nevertheless, that has not prevented me from focusing on the bright side of things, though I confess it hasn´t been easy. When you allow your human side to take control of situations you are in for painful moments. Whether it is pleasant and indulging or not is beside the point. Involving your emotions in life´s important and relevant decisions will cause you to suffer.
What does it mean? It means relevant decisions have to be made with a cool head and a calm heart. How can you decide in a situation like mine? Well, let me put it this way: My Grandma is 95 years old, but she´s spent the last 11 months in a clinical bed. She cannot move and everything has to be done for her. My mom and Sis have been her “nurses” but they are tired and so is granny.
So, what has been my view on the subject? Granny would be better off in God´s hands than where she is now, that is what yesterday´s stroke told me. She´s even more handicapped now. That means that an attached emotion of wanting her to stick around longer would make her suffer more and as a result we would have to endure deeper pain.
I have decided to share this with you so that you can understand what has motivated me to find these quotes.
Thank you for listening! I appreciate your love and support,

Dear Al,
Beautiful post. My heart and soul is with you and your mom and sister (and rest of the family.) I pray that she finds her way to peace and rest sooner rather than later. I could say much more but.. you know.
I love you all very much. Muchas bendiciones.
More?
For once, I have no words. I sit in a quite corner and cry with you.....
Truly beautiful and wise. Great share for a lot of people to think on.
I am sorry that you have had to experience painful feelings associated with the stroke of your grandmother. As a nurse I have looked after many people like your grandmother. The one thing you can take from this expereince is "How can I make life better fro her and What can I learn from this?" It used to upset me when people thought just because she had a stroke that she could'nt think for herself. It must be horrible to have no control over your life and feel trapped in your body.
hello my dear-- so wise and so powerful, these qutoes are timeless and I know you will draw strenghth from them. My thoughts are with you.
as always.

beautiful is all I can say, Maita
My geliefde broer Al - ek wens jou alle seeninge toe! Jou barmhartigheid en goedgesindheid is van groot betekenis vir my.
I have learned just yesterday that my mother in law has cancer. I wrote about it in a recent Hub. I can only try to empathise with you and wish you strength and peace, my brother!
BTW the quote about seeing the "world in a grain of sand" is from William Blake, not William Barclay. It comes from Blake's poem "Auguries of Innocence":
To see a world in a grain of sand,
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour.
It's a beautiful poem which you could find here: http://www.artofeurope.com/blake/bla3.htm
Thanks for this wonderful Hub and the richest of blessing, my brother.
Love and peace
Tony
Dearest Al,
Sorry to hear about your grandma!! Perhaps, it is a coincidence that I've been remembering (for the last few days) my grandma who passed away 2 years ago. It happened all of a sudden and it was a deeply hurtful phase. Needless to say, I still miss her so much and regret not being able to be at her bedside when she moved on! She lived a full life though and so now I look at her moving on in a positive way!!
I would pray that God gives you and your mom and sis the strength to cope with this phase. That your grandma has lived up to 95 means she's probably lived her life to the fullest!!
I like that you have sought to focus on the brighter side, difficult though it might seem!! That's the best way to approach a situation such as this. I read somewhere that "whatever happens, happens for the best." This might seem like a ridiculous statement in most trying situations, but I've always found it to be true.
Would hope and pray that your grandma has a comfortable, pain-free course ahead. That's the best we can pray and hope for!!
Thank you Al for sharing this hub!!
Warm regards,
This is a great collection of quotes. I had forgotten a couple of these!
Thanks for writing this hub!
My dear friend Al. I am broken hearted for your family, and yourself. I am sorry your Grand Mother has to go through all of this. I know you are a deep and strong man; and you shall hold it all together. What can one do in such a situation? Except pray... I shall be praying for your Granny, you, and your family. I very much hope that things get better. With great hope and love. - Joshua.
Neat ties-ins with your videos! GOod work here.
I had experienced the same pain you now have. My father died in my arms on our way to the hospital due to heart stroke. My husband died on the same bed with me after 9 months of struggle with cancer. A nephew was taken away from us and lately, his father, who is my brother, fell into coma and died due to complications of diabetes.
Yes, we all know in theory how to let go, but it's painful and utterly devastating when the moment comes. I'll pray for your grandma and your whole family. God is watching over you!
Beautiful is all I can say too! I love the Quotes! Great hub! Wonderful! Thanks for sharing!
very heartwarming - excellent writing when the words stir up emotions in your readers. You have a pleasant writing style. It is very easy to feel your genuineness and compassion in your writing - this is not easy for everyone to do - it is usually something that is god given and not something you learn so much - you sure have it. Beautiful work
