Dedicated to women victims of domestic violence-a poem about abused women

68

By Mystique1957

Being a victim of domestic violence, how would you deal with it?

  • By killing the s.o.b. He sure deserves it
  • By reporting it immediately to the local police
  • By leaving him for good, even if I lost all my possessions
  • By reporting and suing him

"Spousal abuse is very common but not always talked about. The abuse can be more commonly towards the wife, from the husband. It can also be the other way around, from the wife and directed towards the husband.

A spouse in this situation may feel trapped and as though they have no available resources. Depending on the situation, there are many resources to help the abused spouse. If there is no family to help, there are shelters for abused and battered women and no questions are asked. Resources for abused men are much less known.

Domestic violence and abuse can happen to anyone, yet the problem is often overlooked, excused, or denied. This is especially true when the abuse is psychological, rather than physical. Emotional abuse is often minimized, yet it can leave deep and lasting scars.

Domestic abuse , also known asspousal abuse, occurs when one person in an intimate relationship or marriage tries to dominate and control the other person. Domestic abuse that includes physical violence is called domestic violence .

Domestic violence and abuse are used for one purpose and one purpose only: to gain and maintain total control over you. An abuser doesn’t “play fair.” Abusers use fear, guilt, shame, and intimidation to wear you down and keep you under his or her thumb. Your abuser may also threaten you, hurt you, or hurt those around you.

Domestic violence and abuse does not discriminate. It happens among heterosexual couples and in same-sex partnerships. It occurs within all age ranges, ethnic backgrounds, and economic levels.

And while women are more commonly victimized, men are also abused—especially verbally and emotionally. The bottom line is that abusive behavior is never acceptable, whether it’s coming from a man, a woman, a teenager, or an older adult. You deserve to feel valued, respected, and safe."

Unkind love

When fake love has made you wane,

your heart´s bled ´till the last drop

nurturing its roots would be now insane

as you´d surely reap a malignant crop

Brushes turned to fists tainted with dark,

ripping down a canvas with a facial frame

art becomes a cruel and damaging lark

the artist´s muse is a shameless shame

Dreading a reprise of the same scene

a director´s cut not excluding demise

aching soul rebels from an act obscene

screenplay describing a lethal disguise

Cowardice dons a mannish facade

gifting her a swag of one stony flower

stanzas of twinging, laconic ballade

appalling display at the eleventh hour

In the final act while the curtains fall

no round of applause, impending boycott

courageously she keeps standing tall

bravery is king, unkind love is not

This is dedicated to all those sisters around the world

who have been victims of asspousal abuse

Warmest hugs and infinite heavenly blessings,

I LOVE YOU ALL,

Al

Powerful. Thanks Al. Sorry for all of the lovely ladies (and sometimes others) who endure this theft of life.

Your reference to blood nutiring the roots, comes very close to what these poor people must endure. They are usually so de-humanised, and have no confidence left to fend for their own existence. Others are so helpless to help them, because so often they refuse to leave such a bad relationship.

With your deep sympathy you express above, that is most probably the closest we can come to them. Telling them we also feel them hurting ..

Al, your kindness always shines. The saddest part of abuse is when the victim begins to believe that she 'deserves' it, that she is worthless. Peace and sunshine to you!

I am a formerly abused, almost murdered, woman. And I absolutely don't like your poem at all. It doesn't touch anything that a woman experiences...I actually wrote a series of 11 poems on the cycle of abuse...and believe me, I know the difference between mine and yours....mine are real...and lived...

Thank you very much, Dearest Andrea!

I have tried to contribute the best way I can, if you didn´t like my poem, I am truly sorry. It is your right to disagree! What I do not understand is your lashing out at me as if I was responsible for what you´ve been through. Sadly enough, this attitude just projects your resentment and despise for others who do not even know you or your life. I pray you find peace within yourself! However, that peace shall not be found in hatred, animosity or belligerence.

Thank You for your comments anyway,

Warmest hugs and infinite heavenly blessings,

Al

This is a topic close to my heart, I am an abuse thriver I hate to say survivor, because I am doing so much better away from him!!! its been over 20 years now but the man almost killed me. I am glad you wrote about this, it is an important topic. Everyone experience different things and each abuse is different, and I read some of the comments, and those that don't share your experiences or had different experiences and are talking bad about yours are still going through a healing process. I hope they find it. I hope your feeling better now, I know for me it really took at least ten years. I used to study martial arts because I was scared of him, now I study because I love it.. the difference is I am not studying it because of him anymore. It is for me.

everything I do now is for me... and my kids.. lots of love.
