My son`s Story! -World of Samurai-Poetry
67A brief background
When I was 24 years old, I was living in an old building of Beverly Hills ( It was not out of choice) California. I had been married to a Japanese doctor in genetics and had barely started my own career studies. I was on a government scholarship and most of my allowance check was always gone with the $400 rent fee (Back in 1981!!).
My then wife and I were having adjusting problems because our financial stresses. I spent most of my time studying so I wouldn´t lose my scholarship. By that time, we have decided that our heritage would bring a bit of emotional stability, and my son was planned.
The situation turn sour because my wife needed me close and I couldn´t comply. I spent mornings working part time at the university, afternoon doing assignments and studying and I attended classes until 11pm every day.
She had lost her government grant because she couldn´t keep up with the pressure and the pregnancy, so she quit. I have to admit that she typed most of my papers from my handwritings and got quite depressed often.
One night, she got cravings for sushi and I had to go at midnight desperately searching for a Japanese food outlet which of course, I couldn´t find any open. Her tears from that night I would never forget.
She had been entering into her 6th month and things didn´t look promising.
We decided that she would better be in Japan with her family and all the wonderful support she could get as a doctor. That changed the story and on November 13, 1982, my son was born at the Hiroshima University Hospital.
Ten years later I moved to Japan and felt my connection with the culture. It was back then that my truly serious spiritual studies started. My son was born with an innate ability of seeing the unseen realm that surrounds us (dead people, people about to die and unknown forces).
When I thought I had all the surprises I had to have with my son, I learned that his mother´s family members were direct descendants from the Sasaki Samurai Clan, who then had to change their family name to Fujioka to protect themselves from other Samurai families.
Until now he has always kept away from that and has never wanted to discuss the subject since his experiences were scary and he wouldn´t deal with it, and he will not now. He became a musician and lived in other countries as well. He learned six languages but he practices
four: Japanese, Spanish, English and French.
The Samurai world was harsh, violent and everything was survival, as the Clans were always seeking the power of other clans and the elimination of the subdued clan if they didn´t convert to the new clan.
Based on his views of Samurai living and a peacemaker at heart, I wrote a poem for himmy son, Claudio-Ryusuke, third generation samurai, whose ancestors lived this hell in times of the Shogun…
My son Claudio-Ryusuke(Known as Ryu)
Before...
at this moment of existence
I`ve trod through a living hell
and flavors of spilt blood
inside my mouth dwell
pictures of violent deaths
echo underneath my chest`s pain
my heart stops and beats again
bringing back the devil`s trails
The True power behind The Lord´s Prayer

How to write Good hubs(For ESL writers)
I interviewed God on Global TV
Now...
the helmet on my head,
the hilt in my left fingers
katana in my right hand
the armor on myself.
swiftness in the movement
strength within my soul
my foes have been forgiven
protection for my own,
and in my spirit: God

Thanks for an awesome read! Keep it up. Cheers!
This is very interesting. Did I ever tell you that I love Japan? And that's definitely one of the places I want to visit? It's more than five years that I wish to go there, but it's all my life that I'm learning about Japan. Beautiful story, and i guess your son couldn't find a better father than you. Lucky him. Great hub Al. Rated and stumbled, of course. :)
Al, now you made me curious about your son. :) Life has its twists and turns but I see how you have coped with the challenges that came your way. Blessings...
